How to think about content modeling for JAMStack sites
Content modeling is the process of creating the schema for the content of a project. It’s a common step when using a Headless CMS but also applies when working with any other structured format, like YAML or even the Frontmatter of Markdown files.
A well-structured content model is the foundation of a successful content-driven project. It allows you, the developer, the freedom to evolve your project while giving editors a sensible working structure. To arrive at such a content model, you’ll not only have to take a long hard look at what content you’ll be publishing but also work with stakeholders such as content creators and designers.
In this workshop, we’ll show how we coach our customers to arrive at the right content model for their project. Together, we will:
- Talk about core content modeling concepts
- Understand what different types of content exist
- Learn how to share content across a project with the power of structured data
- Hear from Rachel Church a Senior Software Architect from Clover about how she worked with content creators and designers on their content model
- Create a content model for a JAMStack site
- Note, this workshop is conceptual. We’ll make use of whiteboards and diagrams but you won’t be writing any code.
